If you were traveling in snow you would need somewhere to sleep too.
|
| Between the wiping of his sniffling nose he sees with what little light is left light in the sky, a red wagon in the snow. Rusted and old it would not normally be the ideal place to tuck ones self in for the night, but it was off the the ground from the snow and Montgomery knew that the cold would be the end of him. Well into dusk and with no light to cary his journey any farther, he knew it was time for sleep. He climbed up into the wagon, tucked his legs up to his chest and huddled himself into a ball. With his Zebra skin wrapped around his body and his legs up off the snowy ground the warmth from within himself began to generate under his zebra skin. He would be warm and safe from the elements tonight. But there was one last step before he could sleep. One last step before sleep that always brought Montgomery a prickly sense of embarrassment and shame. Under his stripped protective skin Montgomery reached into his left hand pocket and fished out a small pill bottle with a twist off cap. Opening it carefully he tilted out one of the many big blue pills into the palm of his hand. In the very last seconds of day light that he could see through the eye hole of his new skin, he bit the pill in half and took a gulp. |
