The Legend of Hedgehog boy
"Fallen Hedgehog"
mixed media on watercolor canvas
24" x 20"
From the story:
The heat from the fire was scorching and he began to choke on the smoke. He laid himself upon the sack of swords and pulled one free. The fire was almost upon him. With every ounce of strength he possessed Hedgehog boy lifted the sword high into the air above him. Then he let it fall. The sword slashed through the floor of his tree house, splintering wood in every direction. He was falling, the sword in his arms. He felt calm, peaceful and passed out before hitting the ground. The swords fell all around him, stabbing into the ground around his body. One of them pierced through his side, just outside the ribs, but he did not feel it. The world was black darkness. The rest of the house collapsed upon him, burning and breaking. The swords, handles straight into the air, shielded most of the house from landing on him. The rain put out the fire, and Hedgehog boy laid unconscious, blood pouring from him, as the storm raged on.
